Who is Natalie Dormer?

Natalie Dormer is an English actress and her ancestral heritage is Norwegian and Welsh. She was born in 1982 in Reading, Berkshire. She did her initial schooling at Chiltern Edge Secondary School and after that, she went to Reading Blue Coat School. Along with her formal education, she learned to dance at the Villanova School of Dancing.
Later, She auditioned for drama schools and attended Webber Douglas Academy of Dramatic Art in London, where she trained in theater. Her first on-stage performance was in 2003, in the play The Comedy of Errors.
Dormer debuted in the 2005 movie Casanova, in which she played Victoria. In 2007, she portrayed the character of Anne Boleyn in The Tudors, for which she got nominated twice at the Gemini Awards in 2008 and 2009 for Best Performance By an Actress in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role. She appeared in Madonna’s film W.E. in 2011, in which she played the Duchess of York.
Her career got further recognition in 2012 when she played Margaery Tyrell in the highly popular series Game of Thrones. Dormer’s performance earned her an EWwy award in 2013 for Best Supporting Actress, an Empire Award for Best Ensemble, and two nominations for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series in 2014 and 2015. In 2020, she was nominated again for the same. She did receive an Honorary Merit Award the same year by CinEuphoria Awards.
The actress also brought the character Cressida to life in The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 in 2014 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 in 2015, for which she won the award of Best New Lead Film Actress by NewNowNext Awards. She also acted in the 2016 supernatural horror movie The Forest. Currently, she voices the character of Belle in Pets United.

Natalie Dormer admits to not using social media because she worries about being wrongly quoted. She also has expressed about not being comfortable doing intimate or nude scenes, but still finding motivation in her job. She adds that she has actually turned down sexy roles because she did not want to be misread or typecast.
Apart from her work on screen, Dormer also ran The London Marathon to support Barnardo’s and Childline. She has also spoken in the United Nations Headquarters regarding the troubles of the refugees. She also went to Tanzania with Plan International, a development and humanitarian organization to discourage child marriage.
Natalie has also co-written the 2018 movie In Darkness with Anthony Byrne, with who she was once engaged. As of now, she is dating David Oakes.
