The all new Beats Flex earbuds are definitely an improvement over the neckband type Beats X from 2017. The company says that these earbuds are “most affordable premium wireless earphones to date”.
Similar to the Beats X, this model too has a light-weight flex form cable that will stay around the back of your neck. So they look very similar to each other.
Few features similar to OnePlus earbuds
And when not in use, the earbuds magically stick to each other. Some features have been adapted from OnePlus if you look closely. The audio pauses when the earbuds are linked together and it will resume once they are separated again.
This is what Beats says:
“Beats Flex employs a proprietary layered driver with dual-chamber acoustics to achieve rich, balanced sound with outstanding stereo separation. Laser cut micro-venting and an optimized driver angle ensure ear pressure relief and accurate sound delivery. Additionally, an advanced digital processor fine-tunes the audio for accurate bass, precise mids, and low distortion across the frequency curve.”
Now you can charge it with a USB-C connector
The previous Beats X used the Apple’s Lightning connector to charge. But this time it diverged from that path and introduced another method for charging. Now you can charge your Beats Flex earbuds with a USB-C connector.
This massive shift towards USB-C might be to make it more flexible to use them even on Android devices.
However, they still contain the Apple W1 chip for the purpose of instant pairing with iPhones and iPads and other devices. Just charge them for 10 minutes and you can enjoy them for one and a half hour.
These affordable earbuds have been launched on the same day Apple launched the iPhone 12.
Apple decided not to provide the earphones along with the phone in the box. So, the Beats Flex earbuds being only $50 comes as a relief. And these can fill in the void left by the Apple earphones. This step is made in an effort to be more environment friendly. But this in fact drove up the sales of AirPods and Beats products.
When will the shipping start?
The Beats Flex earbuds provide a 12 hour battery life together with magnetic play and pause, new acoustic drivers and upgraded microphones.
Apple will make the earbuds available for shipping from October 21st. They will be coming in the colors of black or yellow. The light blue and gray colors will arrive in early 2021.
