Qualcomm might enter the gaming phone segment soon

In recent years, a new segment of mobile phones has emerged- the gaming segment. Companies like Asus, Xiaomi’s Black Shark are the major player in it. And honestly, these gaming phones are some of the best phones to buy in the market. They have crazy specs at an affordable price.

Many mobile companies are trying to get a share of this space. Realme has its own Narzo series, while Vivo has the Iqoo series. But now there is a new entrant to this pace and it’s quite a shocking one.

Qualcomm is partnering with Asus

The chip-making giant, Qualcomm is entering this space, and they are partnering with Asus to launch Qualcomm branded gaming devices. And if rumors are to be believed the device may be coming as soon as this year. Qualcomm generally launches their new flagship chip in December and they might announce the mobiles then.

Some sources told Digitimes that the hardware for the gaming device would be shared by both Qualcomm and Asus (for their ROG phones). These hardware parts could be the screens, memory, camera, battery, and cooling solutions.

Digitimes also said that the two companies would be producing roughly 1 million units, with 500 thousand for Qualcomm and the rest for Asus. As of now, we don’t know what specifications the mobiles will be packed with. But, the guess is that at least one of them is going to come with Qualcomm’s 875 processor. And there should also be some standard gaming phone features like high refresh rate screen. Advanced cooling system, and a big battery.
