Overwatch Leagues’ Free Limited Giveaway! be a part of it.

Earlier this week, Overwatch was available for free for a short period of time, until too many fans tried to claim it.

Overwatch League team Boston Uprising opened up a giveaway, an initiative that was intended for a small number of the team’s fans. As the word spread too quickly, they had to shut down the promotion due to the overcrowding of fans. For a short period, a blizzard was giving away Overwatch for free on PC, the best part was, you get to keep it.

All that fans needed to do was fill out a form at the Boston’s uprising Overwatch league website and then wait for a redemption code to show up in their inbox, which may take up to 72 hours. Then redeem that code on Battle.net. They’ll also get 200 Overwatch League tokens for signing up, which can be spent on cosmetics, like the newly released Overwatch League 2020 All-Star skins for Reinhardt and D.Va.

The promotion comes just ahead of the Grand Finals weekend for the Overwatch League, which kicks off Thursday, Oct. 8. Of course, Blizzard also has a sequel in development. Overwatch 2, that does not have a release date yet.

The Overwatch League’s 2020 season was one of many gaming events to be affected by the current pandemic, making in-person gatherings too dangerous to go on as planned. It started with the cancellation of all league matches in China in February and March when the country was still the centre of the outbreak. Since then, the league has been able to adapt, moving matches to an online format that eliminated the live audience that previous years had relied on. In this year’s postseason, Overwatch League will host separate All-Stars events in Asia and North America since travel restrictions prevent players from the two regions from visiting one another.
