Apple Watch 6 vs. Apple Watch SE — Which Should You Buy? All the Major Highlights, Specs, Prices, and Availability

After months of leaks and rumours, Apple Inc. finally held an online event named Time Flies to introduce new products for this year. The company didn’t reveal the much-anticipated flagship smartphone — iPhone 12 — but made a few big announcements. The announcement includes a new iPad Air with a complete new makeover, and two smartwatches — the Apple Watch 6 and Apple Watch SE.

The main attraction of the virtual event was obviously the new Apple Watch 6, which features blood oxygen (SpO2) monitoring. For the first time, the company launched an affordable version of the popular wearable, Apple Watch SE. The premium iWatch has pretty much everything you asked for, but the Apple Watch SE has lower-end features compared to iWatch 6.

Apple Watch 6 vs. Apple Watch SE: Price

The Apple Watch 6 has a higher value as compared to the lower-end Apple Watch SE. Both of the watches are currently available for pre-order. Apple will begin the shipping of both smartwatches from September 18. The Apple Watch 6 and SE, both are available in two cases of 40 mm and 44 mm.

GPS-only version of Apple Watch 6 starts at $399, while the Apple Watch SE’s price starts at just $279. Similarly, the LTE (GPS + Cellular) versions of Watch 6 and Watch SE will start at $499 and $329 respectively.

Apple Watch 6 vs. Apple Watch SE: Specs

The Apple Watch 6 comes in three different cases — aluminium, stainless steel and titanium. But the Apple Watch SE comes only in one case, i.e. aluminium. Both the devices have the rounded square design, but Apple Watch 6’s display is brighter than that of Watch SE. The company mentioned that the Watch 6’s always-on setting is two-and-half brighter than the previous versions.

There is also a processor difference in these two devices. The Watch 6 features 20 per cent faster S6 chipset than that of S5 chip in Watch SE. The other notable difference is Watch 6 has the SpO2 sensor and an ECG monitor, which the SE model doesn’t. Both devices have 18-hour-long battery life, but you can fully charge the Watch 6 in just 90 minutes. The highlight of differences between two smartwatches.
