Sony isn’t a stranger when it comes to smartphones. The company is well-known for its sophisticated and cool looking designs. But in recent times, the company has lost its edge to other majors like Samsung, Apple, OnePlus, etc. With the Xperia 5 ll, the Japanese-giant will be hoping for a better result.
Recently, Sony updated its Facebook page and YouTube channel with a teaser that read, “Xperia New Product Announcement”. The new product could very well be its flagship, the Xperia 5 ll.
Display: 6.1-inch-full-HD+ OLED
Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC
ROM: 128GB, expandable
Camera: Triple camera setup-rear
Single front camera
A dedicated shutter button
The leaked images suggest the volume-rocker buttons be on the left-hand side, while the power button and shutter button sit on the right-hand side. A 3.5mm headphone jack, a C-type USB charging port, and external speakers find their way to the bottom of the smartphone. A triple camera setup with a flashlight at the rear and a single front camera complete the overall package.
Specifications and Software:
The Sony Xperia 5 ll is expected to come with a 6.1-inch-full-HD+ HDR OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The touch-sensing rate is said to be 240Hz. This combo should surely be a treat for gamers. Sony is believed to continue offering the smartphone with an aspect ratio of 21:9, called CinemaWide in other terms.
The smartphone is claimed to be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 SoC processor coupled with 8GB of RAM and 128GB of ROM, which can be expanded via an external memory card. Also, the smartphone is said to be 5G compatible.
Sony’s smartphones have always been standout performers when it comes to imaging. Hence, Sony will try to continue its tradition with the Xperia 5 ll. From the leaked images, there seem to be three cameras at the rear, with Zeiss T* branding.
The primary camera is said to be a 12MP camera, alongside a 12MP 3x telephoto lens. Also in offing is a 12MP camera for ultra-wide shots. 4k HDR video recording up to 120fps combined with OIS and EIS is believed to be available. The specification of the front camera remains to be a mystery. The smartphone’s kept alive by a 4000mAh battery with fast-charging in place.
If reports are to be believed, Sony will apparently launch the smartphone on September 17, 2020, at 12:30 p.m. IST. There’s no word on the pricing, though.
