Johnny Depp’s legal trouble with his former wife, Amber Heard has put himself in a desperate situation. Several reports claim that the actor hasn’t been offered any good and lucrative offers lately. Depp’s last widely known appearance was in 2018’s Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. He didn’t appear in a single film in 2019.
If this goes on, the 58-year-old actor will have his career ruined in no time. But the recent reports from the insiders suggest that his good old friend and Avengers star, Robert Downey Jr. is giving a lifeline to save his career. Robert, who stars as the titular Sherlock Holmes in Sherlock Holmes film series reportedly wants Johnny Depp to co-star with him in the third instalment.
Even Depp denied that he was a wife-beater and produced some evidence, Disney still dropped him from the upcoming sequel of Pirates of the Caribbean. Some reports also mentioned that Disney reportedly wants to kill off Depp’s iconic character, Jack Sparrow. However, fans aren’t happy with the decision because it was Depp, who had been saving the entire swashbuckling franchise on the first place.
Warner Bros has already set the release date for third Sherlock Holmes film on December 22, 2021. A source close to the senior personnel at Warner Bros. recently revealed that Robert wants to cast Depp in the third Holmes movie. The prime cast members alongside, Robert Downey Jr. are Jude Law and Rachel McAdams. Both the actors also have confirmed their reprisal in the third film.
Depp may appear as film’s antagonist!
If Depp joins the cast, then he would probably play another popular antagonist from the Sherlock Holmes universe. The popular enemies like Jim Moriarty, Lord Henry Blackwood, and Sebastian Moran have already appeared in the franchise. The reports claimed that Depp may portray Charles Augustus Magnussen in the upcoming third sequel.
Chris Brancato will write the third film and Rocketman director Dexter Fletcher will serve as the sequel’s director. Robert has always put Depp in high regard and claimed that there is nobody other than Depp whom he admired most.
